so this is the first post of a 3-4 part (or less) series on how i got picked up by the police

a long read and if your attention span is short like mine, the tl;dr for this part is basically:

  • got a call from my sister

  • went from my house to the family house

  • the time i arrived

  • what i did there

  • and when i left

having said that... feel free to skip to the part you might find interesting!

so...

on monday, 6th july 2026, i got a call from my elder sister (the newlywed bride or how do you say it) to come over to the family house same day in preparation for the wedding!

was supposed to meet in the morning but due to busy work schedule and some "me time with claude (obviously)", couldnt leave the house until late evening!

alright...

i'm outside, say 7:30-8pm okoafo bustop... was supposed to meet a friend on my way home since i dont come around too often

was deciding "should i take a bike straight home or stop at ilogbo to see my friend?"

well, ended up going to ilogbo! and friend wasnt home

now i'm at the bustop... no bike to take me to my parents' house

had to start trekking, the beginning of a lonnnng night for me!

good thing, 10 minutes into the "trek" with how flooded and messy and muddy the road was, i got a bike to take me home.

now...

i'm home, first things first, hopped on a group call, more like a prayer meeting for the upcoming wedding!

she was anchoring so we couldnt speak for the next 30 minutes

time now is somewhere around past 9pm!

prayer call done! time to discuss why i'm here...

alright, got status update on ongoing work in the family house in preparation for the traditional marriage

think we hopped on a call with our tailor, christian and spoke about some other important stuff

now i'm ready to leave, then she said:

"wont you stay back and eat the porridge plantain we prepared?"

jsyk, on my way to the house, sometime around 6pm, i had already eaten and was full! but i couldnt resist this food 🀣

food turned out great! forced myself to finish it and thank GOD i did... (soon you will understand why)

now the time is past 10pm! and im ready to leave (once again 🐱)

left home with my younger brother... bro wanted to get whatever it was so we left home together

i think it was a 9-minute walk from home, and was partially waiting for a bike to take me to okoafo bustop!

we parted ways, still no bike...

was optimistic the whole time and walked all the way to ilogbo bustop... i was even more optimistic i would get a bike to okoafo when i get there

for context, my parents' house to ilogbo is about 30-50 minutes when walking

gif

thank GOD i ate that porridge

now what do you think the time is? 11pm...

well, now i'm at ilogbo bustop and no bike πŸ˜‚

now what? three options:

  • lodge at bose garden hotel managed by a friend

  • go back home (not even an option for me imho)

  • walk to okoafo bustop to take a bus/bike home

if i'm being honest, going back to my parents' house wasnt even an ooption for me so i was left with trekking down to okoafo bustop or check in at bose garden hotel

the whole point was i needed to be home, by all means necessary

so i decided i'll walk down to okoafo bustop after spending close to 10 minutes around ilogbo bustop plus i got some suya to while away time

ilogbo to okoafo is about 50 minutes to an hour depending on your pace!

breaking my ifitness record for that day and setting in a new one was also a driving force behind my decision to walk to the bustop

"wont be bad if i do 200%-300% of my daily target", i said to myself

IMG 4107

based on the app, i'd done 11k steps and walked 7.86km for that day!

let's put it at 9k steps and 6km distance

with that, i was already up 200% of my daily target, i wanted more

what more can i ask for?

well, here's the end of this part of the whole article!

publishing part 2 in a bit...
